Conditions Monitoring
Our conditions monitoring service uses smart sensor technology to keep watch over critical shipment conditions – such as temperature, humidity, shock, tilt, and light exposure – while your goods are in transit. We equip shipments (or containers) with small wireless devices that continuously record environmental data and, in many cases, transmit it in real time to our monitoring platform.
This service is particularly valuable for sensitive or high-value cargo: pharmaceuticals and vaccines that must stay within strict temperature ranges, electronics that can’t endure high humidity or shock, delicate machinery that must remain upright, etc. We configure the sensors to the thresholds appropriate for your product (e.g., maintain 2–8°C, or "do not tilt beyond 30°").
As the shipment progresses, our system tracks these conditions. If everything stays within limits, you receive a documented trail proving proper handling. If a reading goes out of the acceptable range (say temperature rises too high or an impact is detected), our system triggers an instant alert.
Upon receiving an alert, our team can intervene – for example, instructing the carrier to check a refrigeration unit if temperature climbs, or arranging for an inspection at the next stop if a shock above a threshold is recorded (which could indicate possible damage). We also notify you immediately of the situation and our corrective actions.
After delivery, you receive a full report of the condition data throughout the journey. This is often crucial for compliance (as with pharmaceuticals needing proof of temperature control) or quality assurance (ensuring that sensitive equipment wasn’t subjected to harmful conditions). These records can be integrated into your quality systems or provided to end customers as needed.
Benefits to Your Business:
- Quality Assurance in Transit: You can ensure that products maintain their quality from departure to arrival. For example, if no temperature excursion is recorded, you and your customers have confidence that a vaccine shipment remained effective. If a problem occurred, you can quarantine or discard affected goods, protecting end users and your brand.
- Reduced Product Loss: Early detection of adverse conditions lets us act before it’s too late. A simple alert that a container is warming up enables quick corrective action (like replenishing dry ice or repairing a trailer’s refrigeration unit) that could save an entire shipment from spoilage. This proactive approach means fewer losses and insurance claims, directly saving money.
- Accountability and Visibility: Condition logs provide clear accountability for handling. If an issue arises, you can pinpoint when and where it happened and address it with the responsible parties. This data is valuable for working with carriers on preventive measures and can support any claims for mishandling if needed.
- Regulatory Compliance: For industries with strict regulations (food, pharma, chemicals), continuous condition monitoring helps ensure compliance with laws requiring proof of proper storage conditions. The detailed records can be presented during audits or to customers, simplifying compliance management and avoiding regulatory penalties.
- Customer Confidence: Offering this level of monitoring can be a differentiator. Customers, especially in B2B sectors, feel more secure knowing their sensitive goods are under a watchful eye during transit. It demonstrates your commitment to quality and safety, which can be a deciding factor when customers choose a logistics or manufacturing partner.
